Melatonin 5mg w/ Vit B-6 Sublingual Tabs

Melatonin 5mg + Vitamin B-6 Sublinguales Tabs (Twin Pack 2 Bottles x 30 tabs)

Where is it?

Melatonin is produced in the pineal gland, located in the brain. Melatonin levels in the body fluctuate with the cycles of day and night. Higher levels of melatonin are achieved overnight. Melatonin is present in food in trace amounts.

What is the usual dose?

Normally, the body releases melatonin for several hours at night, an effect that is simulated better with extended-release supplements. Studies with prolonged release melatonin have been successful. Most doctors recommend taking 13 mg of melatonin one to two hours before bedtime.

In studies with people suffering from sarcoidosis or cancer were used very high amounts of melatonin, usually 20 mg per night. These levels should never be taken without the supervision of a physician. Melatonin should not be taken during the day

There are side effects or interactions?

Melatonin has few side effects, however, have been described morning sickness, undesired drowsiness, sleepwalking, and disorientation.

The researchers believe that some people, like pregnant women or breast-feeding and people with depression, schizophrenia and autoimmune diseases like lupus should not take melatonin supplements until more information becomes available.

The oral absorption of a drug implies that it must be swallowed to pass through the esophagus, the stomach where there a way one is going to be affected by the effect of stomach acid, thus passes into the duodenum, jejunum and ileum gift in the two last components of the small intestine absorb most of the food and drugs, hence passing to the venous system of the portal vein and transported to the liver (entero-hepatic circulation), this part is degraded and metabolized, then the remainder passes from the liver to the blood, the distribution slowly.

When you want a fast absorption and ensure the highest percentage of the administered dose is preferred the use of parenteral routes, ie intravenous subcutaneous intramuscular.

The sublingual route is almost as accurate and safe as the previous one can be considered almost equal to the intravenous route for practical purposes because in the oral cavity irrigation there is a rich venous plexus through which oral drugs are absorbed faster and spend the external jugular and then rapidly throughout the body and most importantly, it avoids the hepatic first pass and more importantly the cumbersome mechanism of absorption. In short, it ensures rapid and complete absorption of the desired dose of the drug.
